Mobile Communications Unit

This tractor unit #4044 and trailer unit #7044 are designed to act as a mobile communications centre that could be set up in advanced positions during emergency situation as well as providing assistance at community events.

It has regular RV connections but can be powered by its own 7000W generator and carries a second 5000W generator for additional support.

This unit has positions for 5 dispatch or communications operators and a meeting room. It has radio equipment from several local emergency organizations and a Norstar telephone switch [for up to 9 phone lines]. This vehicle also carries 30 portable radio with chargers for large event coordination.

This unit is also equipped with heating and air conditioned for year round operation.

Although this unit is used to support St. John operations in the field it may be requested by a municipality for special community events.
