
Becoming a Cadet means you'll learn First Aid skills and get to put them into practice. You will also gain skills such as how to lead groups of people, develop your training skills so you can teach others, as well as many other subjects. What ever you're into, you will get the chance to have fun with lots of opportunities to meet new friends, help your local community and try new things.
By doing all this you will have gained a wide range of skills covering all aspects of life. All of your experiences within St. John and outside can be counted towards both the Grand Prior Award and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
From ages 10-15 meeting Saturdays at 9:30am.
The Cadet component is designed for young people 11 to 15 years of age. It's the first step for young people toward becoming a First Aid Provider. Candidates for enrollment must hold, as a minimum, a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate, and must have written consent of their parent or guardian.
The Cadet program expands personal skills and knowledge in Emergency First Aid, while building confidence and preparing youth for greater responsibility.
Camping and other fun activities are all part of the training. Cadets are taught the importance of working in groups, while giving due consideration to individual growth and input. Some Cadets can take on Junior leadership roles. Cadets also participate at community service events under the guidance of a qualified Crusader or adult member.
From ages 16-20, meeting Mondays at 7:00pm.
When you're ready for the challenge, the Crusader program is there to take you the rest of the way. Designed for young people 16 to 20 years of age,the Crusader component allows you to develop your first aid readiness and response skills to a senior level Candidates for enrollment must hold, as a minimum, a valid Standard First Aid Certificate. Participants under 18 years of age must have the written consent of their parent or guardian. (Members 16 to 17 years of age not residing with their parent or guardian may sign on their own behalf.)
The Crusader program offers more advanced patient care training and emphasizes individual leadership qualities while performing community service.
